It Takes a Foreigner

"Senator, in everything I said about Iraq I turned out to be right and you turned out to be wrong - and 100,000 have paid with their lives, 1,600 of them American soldiers sent to their deaths on a pack of lies."

George Galloway is a member of the British parliament who has been accused of making money from the oil for food program in Iraq. He denies it, vehemently, and today he kicked ass in the U.S. Senate. Watch the video here on Real Player.

Republican Norm Coleman of Minnesota has been trotting out old, discredited documents that purport to show Galloway making money in Iraq during the Hussein regime. No one told Coleman that Galloway already won a libel suit against a British paper that published accounts of these apparently forged documents.

As far as I know, Galloway is the first person to tell U. S. Senators that the occupation of Iraq is based on lies that have killed thousands. Too bad there aren't enough Americans with that much courage.
