Rachel Corrie Play Comes to New York

The Israeli lobby is powerful, but every now and again someone emerges who just doesn't give a damn.

There will be a New York production of My Name is Rachel Corrie after all. A previous production was scuttled because of well, pressure. Hammerstein productions say they won't be cowed by the controversy, that is to say the pressure. I hope not.

Corrie was crushed to death by a Caterpillar tractor in 2003 while trying to stop the destruction of a Palestinian home. She has been demonized as a terrorist when she was in fact a non-violent activist for peace.

I hope that the show does go on. I would like to see a performance, if only to piss Israel off.
